Title : the vietnams are back!

SRGCE Vietnam Trip, Day 2
2 Dec 2008

after overnight on board, we arrived at Lao Cai at 6 plus. Went to Sapa.

For breakfast! @ Sapa
We had 6 choices to choose from on the breakfast menu.
Theres this cute puppy at Sapa's Inn near the fireplace.

We started the climb to Fansipan at about 10 am. The base camp is at 1800m.

Ok, we set off alrd!
Each climb lasts about 2-3 hours.

climbing up...

this is how a typical toilet in the mountains look like. -_-

Reached our campsite at 2800m in the evening. Living conditions there were quite bad, for we lived in tents that were... pretty cramped. grrr. But dinner was good.
This is NOT our tent. this is the teachers' tent.

This is where we eat and sleep in.,
I think the temp fell below 0 degree celcius at night time? We were all suffering frm overcold despite being clad with dont know how many layers of thick jacket, even winter jackets? The wind was COLD, the speed travels like a hurricane. Our tent covers had loopholes, so my legs were exposed to the cold. There was some commotion in the middle of the night cos the guys' tent flew away. The girls tent almost gave way too. zz. The weather was freezing up there. Didn't sleep much.

You know how random I can be? Yoges asked to borrow one extra beanie from me before the trip, I agreed. Something happened in the freezing tent.
Me: Eh yoges yoges is that my beanie on your head? *pulls the beanie off her head*
Yoges: *scolds me and all the &%$@* comes out from her mouth.* stop pulling my beanie!
Then, the whole tent laughed. :P
everyone was freezing and cant wait to clad themselves with several layers like chinese dumpling, yet I pulled off her beanie exposing her to more cold. =X

All of us were very much homesick! We got out of our comfort zone. Yay. From putting up with hardship to tolerating certain things, we learned! :D
Despite lagging behind schedule for day 2, we still made it!

The porters were so dedicated in their jobs. They do everything, sometimes for us, despite tired. Its inspiring and made me think whether we really push ourselves to the limits.

The next morning, it wasn't that cold anymore.

Teamwork helps.
