Time : 1:00:00 am Title : 放天灯 20.01.12 its a Friday night and that was the night we released Sky lanterns aka wish lanterns/kong ming lanterns into the heavens.
First up, dinner with cherry at AMK Hub then ice cream before heading down to Punggol.. The prata we like to eat :) we travelled down to Hougang Interchange to take train to Punggol, in an open field where we could set off the lantern easily with no high obstacles nearby. To reduce fire hazards, its best to fly in an open field, nowhere near the airport and best to face the sea (etc east coast park beach).
I love this shot! We were writing on the lanterns in Chinese, definitely :))
Lighting it up Hold it for 1-2 minutes and slowly, one person by person, start to let go when the rising force is felt. Slowly release it into the air and it will glide upwards!
Yeah!
Pretty scene in the night sky!
:)
Realised, such pics taken at night look better without flash..
This looks like filming some drama. Nice right! My good shots :P
I love the shots in this post, particularly some like the last few. :)
The sky lantern culture is not popular in Singapore yet, more popular in Taiwan and China and spreading to other countries. If you want to re-enact childhood scenarios and make wishes, you could try sky lanterns.. for fun. As a chinese way of wishing. A culture. Its quite easy to find them in Chinatown, like Temple Street. But in Sg, the lanterns usually only have multiple colours to choose from except white, because.. we arent as traditional as Taiwan etc. White seems nicer. Instructions are stated on the packaging and its quite simple.. Apparently, it seems a better idea to use Chinese calligraphy ink brushes then zebra fine markers to write on the paper lanterns. Shall wait for round 2! On a happy note also, we, the three sisters, formed an Angry Birds Family several days ago. Angry Birds really suit us. We can be temperental, crazy and fierce but at the end of the day we are still one close lovely family. == I will update soon! Labels: reunion, Sky lanterns

Time : 10:47:00 pm Title : Happy 2012! Another new year. In the year 2011, I worked a few jobs. Got my A level results. Still got to further my studies. Travelled to Thailand for the first time, had my first fine dining experience there. Turned 20, spent my big day at Universal Studios Singapore with my genuine friends and family. Went to one of the best places in Kluang, Malaysia a week before as a pre-birthday outing. Saw my true friends. saw ugly side of some people who just ousted themselves from your life, and i had grudges. Experienced Salsa and swimming as a CCA, turned out the latter became the active one. got closer with some existing JC band friends despite pursing different paths. Learnt the art of money management. Gained 8 kg due to some factors. 2011 was the year I started to go overseas (Malaysia only) without parents but friends. Parents let me go to JB now. I am thankful for 2011. For the water dragon year of 2012, i hope to be able to (must work hard for it) Obtain better results (As and more As) Maintain my health. Get back to my old weight (halfway there.. Lol) Abstain from the forbidden (like i always do lol) Everyone to stay happy, have good health and have peace! Find what I want to do in life, think of my career. Existing friendships to get stronger. Figure out what career I want to do. This summer, I want to throw a 21st bash for myself too. Haha. I look forward to my vacation in spring. I spent the New Year in Johor Bahru with my swim mates. Entered Malaysia successfully around 9 AM (we kiasu so we set off early) and spent almost 12 hours in there. We were lucky to manage to avoid jams and long queues due to our fast reaction. Tiring day. We had good food and shopping (or window shopping lol). Ate gan lao mian (dry stir noodles), custard pao, shared a bowl of wanton mee in the morning, hor fun, chocolate crepe in the afternoon, cream spaghetti at Swensen's Seasons at KSL mall, 2 rounds of Baskin Robbins ice cream which consists of a few scoops. All 3 meals and snacks + appetisers settled there. Fei le. Hi fats. x3 2012, bring it on :D Lets forge ahead in the water dragon year! Labels: Johor Bahru, new year, swim |
