Time : 10:40:00 pm Title : I've been looking for someone to shed some light, not somebody just to get me through the night. Today during CT period, our tutor taught us on character development. Its something like what we call PCCG lessons in secondary school.
Friendship.. What is friendship? Up to you to define. 2 groups of friends: Having a friend and being a friend. They are two different things. Having a friend would mean, Someone to sit with you during lectures and classes? Someone you can be with during your CCA? Someone you can eat with at the canteen? Someone who lives near you and takes the same bus with you every morning, hence you having a regular bus partner? Someone whom you can walk with together to the bus stop after school/CCA and then wait for your individual buses? Someone whom you can spend the time with during certain breaks? Or if you need to go somewhere to get a birthday present for another friend, the person may accompany you, probably at the expense of a lecture test which is held the next day? To put it simply, having a friend means having a companion, who can accompany you to certain scenarios, places or programmes whenever you need it.. Being a friend is being someone who will be there for their friends regardless of almost anything. Like, if you don't see them present in school in the morning, you will drop an SMS to see whats up with them? Or if they are absent from classes, you SMS the person to notify him/her on what is going on, what are the assignments to do and perhaps helping him keep his notes and maybe even bringing it to their doorstep? If you're really a friend you'd rather your friend go home early to study for next day's test than to accompany you to buy a present for someone I suppose? Being a friend also mean one who stick with someone loyally, through thick and thin, hell and heaven, laughter and tears, highs and blues... the friendship is mutual, can be felt deeply by the heart & highly treasured by both parties. Perhaps at many points of your life you are guilty of 'having a friend' to accompany you for certain things. Its so-called 'making-use' or maybe that beings a 'fair-weathered' friend? But thats the nature of human beings. Can't really blame an individual. We can't help it being lonely right? Sometimes we just desparately need a soul to spend their moments with.. Its understandable. But, there are also many instances where you are really a true friend and the feeling is mutual. Of course, we should be able to differentiate who are in which category in our lives. I rather have one true friend than to have many friends around me whom I don't feel that I can express myself freely to and having to weigh my thoughts and words when with them. The feeling of being surrounded by so many friends and looking like some clique when you ain't really close to them is just... So what kind of friend you are to the different people in your life? Think about it..... |
